The inaugural league night at "The Home of Kitchen Rules Club" took place last Thursday where Mart (72) played host to a night of darts that maybe just maybe threw the title open. One of the minions and Rock n Roll kicked off the night with a match that threatened to scupper our hopes of playing catch up with outstanding fixtures as neither player seemed to find any form whatsoever as the crowd yawned its way through a 3-3 draw. The Hammer licking his lips at a severely out of form Rock n Roll thought his game later would be a walk in the park. Scared a You strode up to the oche on his home turf like a man on a mission and was soon into his stride against a subdued Double Top who unlike his comeback fight against The Destroyer was unable to develop the toys out of the pram anger he is now reknowned for and painfully succumbed to the form man, Scared, who rattled up a 4-0 victory which sent out a stark message to the top two that he was homing in on the League title. Next up was Lethal against the Spears. Lethal, coming back from life saving surgery should have been cannon fodder for Spears who had been finding it difficult to recapture the form which saw him top o the tree in the early stages of the season, however, clever delaying tactics by Lethal with his slow play utilising his exaggerated limp seemed to unnerve the pride of Tudor Road. Despite a 90+ finish and a 13 dart leg The Spears was humbled by the old grinder 4-2. This particular game was marred though by Blade 4 bounce outs (which surely warrant an enquiry) and a sulking dog that didnt know whether it was coming or going. The Destroyer was up against he of the diamond encrusted darts the Brickie whos mixture of performances this season has left us all wondering what this guy is really capable of. The Destroyers performances of late have not been anywhere near his capabilities yet amazingly he was still in there with a shot at the title, but yet again he was to leave head shaking because of missed opportunities and in the end had to settle for a 3-3 draw, The Brickie not phased by anyone yet again showed his potential and next season is surely the man to watch. The way was paved for the Hammer to take complete control of the league and cement top spot, his observation of Rock n Rolls earlier poor form was justified the only problem being that his own form was not up to his usual standard and yet again the crowd had to endure a dismal bore draw leaving the Hammers nerves to jangle for at least one more week. Shmo-key cheekily rounded the night off complaining about having to wait so long for his game when in previous weeks he has moaned about having to play too early, his opponent however had already played a game that evening which should have surely given him the advantage but as has happened so often this season Shmo-key battled his way to a deserved draw. The season is not quite over but if the Hammer can hold his nerve and stave off the onslaught of Scared a You's excellent form we could have a repeat winner of the TNPLD League.
There is a footnote and a lesson to be learned from this weeks report and that is if you complain about not getting enough coverage in match reports you wont get any coverage at all.........will let you all work that one out for yourselves.
Good Arrers
