Jons Not So Suprising Report - Seeing As Tho He Is Top

After a strange beginning to the TNPLD season 3.5 the juice is starting to flow the rivalries are hotting up and the league table is showing that it is literally anyones title this year. The Hammer has faltered and the Destroyer by his own admission has had an inconsistent start. Scared a You (143) seems to be stealthily moving along quite nicely without setting the world alight but you have to think that this could be the year of the older generation, because sitting pretty above these TNPLD legends is the old man himself LETHAL who has had his best start to the season and his four victories so far have only cost him one leg. Yes he had a bit of a sulk on at the beginning of the season but he's back and flying with finishing being the killer element of his game. The Spears on the other hand has had his worst start yet and seems to have lost his mojo, come on Brettney time to show us what you are really capable of. Shmo-key has his first win and continues to put the wind up Lethals jacksy with his 13 darter in their recent encounter. The Bachelor has had a steady start to the campaign whereas The Brickie probably feels that he has under achieved. Double Top is an enigma, you just never know what your gonna get and everyone is wary of this unpredictable force. Rock n Roll is always there or there abouts but again would probably be disappointed with his start. But the headline grabber this season so far has been Ratchet who has struck fear into the 3 legends so far and despite a 4-0 drubbing by Lethal is up there in the mix and is likely to cause quite a few upsets this year. So Lethal leads the way for the first time in his career ........who is gonna knock old sulky chops off his perch????

How To Win The League

Jase  is the 3 times premier league darts champion and regarded as the greatest player ever to play darts. Jase like every professional darts player has his own unique way of throwing darts.Jase admits "There is no right way to throw darts and no wrong way to throw darts" but he continues "There are a few key elements every great dart player shares" these elements include stance, grip, aim, and release.

Other key elements in the dart throw include rhythm, posture, equipment and a cool darts nickname like "The Hammer" is vital in making yourself a better darts player.

Find The Right Darts - Finding the darts that suit you and your style is the first tip. This includes the weight of the dart and the lenght, design and grip. Most professional darts players use light darts usually 20 gramme and under, Dennis Precisely uses darts as light as 16 gramme but strangely Jase uses 26 gramme darts.Trial and error are needed to fint the perfect darts for you.

How To Stand Playing Darts - Jase like most professional darts players stands with his leading foot turned sideways to the oche (Oche is the term used for the line you throw from). With your foot turned sideways lean slightly forward, do not lean too far forward and sacrifice balance for being a few inches closer to the dart board.Make sure your steady and comfortable and keep your body as still as possable.

How to aim your dart - Jase lines every part of his body to the target "Imagine there is a chalk line from your target running down the wall and across the floor, you should stand in a position were the line would run directly to the center of your body" he continues "Aim the dart like a gun from the center of your body".

Handle the pressure - Once you have your throw you now have to put it to the test.Pressure can cause you to throw faster and loose rhythm or shake and and loose grip both resulting in more holes in the wall than in the dart board.

Pick an awesome darts nickname - Picking a cool nickname is of course a huge part of being a better dart player -Jase "The Hammer"Holtby - Neal"The destroyer" Bell - are both good examples, Matin "Scared a' You" Hill probably wouldnt have have had as much success.

Now you have the tips of the 15 times champion of the world but lets look at the Preferred throw from the people who bring science to sport.

This animation courtesy of SitePeople shows the perfect arm position and throw for darts :

The key science to the darts throw - Slow backward move.Accelerate towards the target.Let the arm fully follow through.

5 Quick Darts Facts You May Not Know :

1. What height is the centre of the board from the floor on a properly mounted dart-board?

68 inches.. 5'8' (173 centimetres).

2.What name, from the Old French for 'cut a deep notch in', is used for the throwing line?

Oche. Another school of thought says that 'oche' is a Cockney corruption of the word 'hockey'.

3.What special name is given to a score of 26, comprising of a 20,5 and 1?

Bed and Breakfast.. Supposedly based on the typical price of lodgings in an old English hostelry- 2 shillings and 6 pence. A Shanghai is a triple, double and single of the same number, Three in a Bed is all 3 darts in the same number, and Madhouse refers to that most frustrating of finishes.. the double one.

4.What is the maximum allowable length for a dart?

12 inches.. Most darts are around 5-6 inches long.

5.What is the metal framework on the face of the board called?

A spider.. On most good boards, the spider is removable. Because the numbers are attached to the spider, this allows the board to be rotated so that the board's life can be extended.

York Thursday Night Premier League Darts - Brett Fired Up Once Again!

Thursday night premier league darts season 3.5 started with a bang on Thursday with no fewer than 10 players turning up for their opening games.

First to start was defending champion the hammer against a  fired up brickie. Unfortunately the brickie was not on song and lost 4-1 to the hammer.

Next up the bachelor vs scared a' you, who was aiming to go one better this season by winning a trophey for the first time, and he did his chances no harm by beating the bachelor 4-2

The ratchet vs the spears next, with newcomer John trying to make an impression on the league with his first game it was upto brett to show him that the league aint no walkover and he did by beating the ratchet 4-0 and firmly placing himself top of the league.

Rock n roll had a tough opener against shmo-key. Shmo-key who was last years MILF was still looking for his first win and unfortunately will have to wait a while longer as rock n roll ran out a 4-0 winner.

One of this years favourites next against last years top rookie - double top. Belly again seeing the coveted prize in front could not afford to drop points in his opener and he didn't beating double top 4-1.

Next up Mickeys on friday!

York Thursday Night Premier League Darts - It's That Time Again

So its here, the wait is over and the lads are primed. Season 4 is upon us and with it 12 hungry competitors vying to be crowned T.N.P.L.D. champion.
Can 3 time world champion "The Hammer" make it a record 4 times and close down on Phil Taylor or will it be the most undecorated favourite in TNPLD history "scared a' you"?. The destroyer must certainly fancy his chances this year after winning the not so super league for the 2nd year running. Rock n' roll along with lethal will be chomping at the bit to get the season underway and make the league stand up and take note of these warriors.
But it could be the year of the minion especially with the spears starting last season so well. Shmokey on the other hand will be looking for his first win, after drawing with a handful of favourites last season, the milf winner could be this years suprise.
Last years new comers double top and the brickie now have a season under their belt and will both be looking for glory after a stable first season.
Pablo will be looking towards the top half this season after a dramatic win in the dubai classic. This year he himself will be looking at the top half of the table after taking big name scalps last season.
And then theres the newcomers. Stu and John. John has been an ever present piece of the furniture last season, following the tour all year priming himself for this years tourny. Could this be the year of the rookie?, well from whats been leaking out of the hawkins camp it could well be!

York Thursday Night Premier League Darts - Its Hammer Time............Again !!!!!!

No need for match reports, no need for inquests, no need for reflection. Lets simply say The Hammer has yet again shown that he has what it takes to be the Champion. On a night when nerves were a jangling and expectations were high once again the man who can .....did! Lethal blew his top 4 place against an inspired Shmo-key, Rock n Roll left his top 4 challenge to the very last game and swept into the elite by ruthlessly demolishing his sibling (Double Top) and the gallant Spears despite some big scoring could not end the title challenge of The Hammer who was left hoping the Destroyer could pull out his A game after some recent disappointments and topple the form man of the season Scared. Well the Destroyer lived up to his name and ended all dreams that Scared (102) had of taking the title. After a brilliant TNPLD season which saw shocks, improvements, controversy and much more it seemed that the Hammers stranglehold on the League was under serious threat, the Destroyer fresh from Super League success was made favourite to topple the champ, Scared was consistent, Lethal was draining, Rock n Roll was up and down, Brickie and Double Top were an inspiration, Spears after an excellent start fell away but needs to be watched next year with his big scoring. Bachelor and Shmo-key struggled for wins, but through all of this The Hammer prevailed and now has a Tayloresque aura which will be difficult to break down. Love him, hate him, slag him, bitch him call him what you like but one thing is for sure and can not be in doubt The Hammer is THE ONE AND ONLY TNPLD League Champion, and its up to us to improve and wrestle that title away.

Congratulations to THE HAMMER - TNPLD League Champion 2011 (Part 1)

Look to the left and vote on our latest poll.

York Thursday Night Premier League Darts - Scared a' You In Pole Position, Hammer Fails To Strike

In a nailbiting run to the final games it looks like Mart has the league all wrapped up.....or do he thinks. With the hammer slipping up it seems like Mart(74) should have the league all sewn up on the final night. Mart who proudly announced that he was the best player the league had ever seen even though he hasn't who anything since the league  started, strode into stadio woodall with no pressure bearing over him. But that will be a different story on finals night with him playing league champion hopeful Belly, who even though he's dropped off the pace, still has a massive shout at the league championship himself. Mart says that neal will be chicken feed, even classing him as a "minnion" because he's never beaten him in the league, the same was said for lethal and the hammer but lethal proved form counts for nothing as jon ripped the hammer a new a-hole. Mart will have upset belly and the rest of the players union with his outrageous statements and will be seen as  the number one hate figure in the league, a title held by both the hammer and destroyer who have both crumbled when holding this burden, surely this will happen again to him. No one, no matter how good have slated other players abilitys, in or out of the darts arena, but it seems that mart just cant help himself, over the last few weeks his insults have included:

Slurs against Neal for been as bent as a ten bob note.

Brett throwing arrows like a paraplegic woman

Mickey for throwing like he builds walls.......cock eyed

Jase having no staying power, just like when hes in the sack

Rich been aggressive on steroids and non playable

Dan not been able to tattoo

Jon putting on his limp after a scratch too his leg

Teddy for just been a dick

And pablo for messing with his dog

(for legal reasons none of these are actually true)

So as valued members of TNPDL, are we going to sit back and let this narcosistic ass take the piss while we waller in self pity? HELL NO! Make your feelings shown by posting on our website and telling this horrible little man just what you think of him.

This may benefit me but will also make my fellow members and valued friends feel good about themselves whilst taking a stand against discrimination in the dart place.

Love Jase xxx

Thursday Night Premier League Darts - Top two in TNPLD running........SCARED - -

The inaugural league night at "The Home of Kitchen Rules Club" took place last Thursday where Mart (72) played host to a night of darts that maybe just maybe threw the title open. One of the minions and Rock n Roll kicked off the night with a match that threatened to scupper our hopes of playing catch up with outstanding fixtures as neither player seemed to find any form whatsoever as the crowd yawned its way through a 3-3 draw. The Hammer licking his lips at a severely out of form Rock n Roll thought his game later would be a walk in the park. Scared a You strode up to the oche on his home turf like a man on a mission and was soon into his stride against a subdued Double Top who unlike his comeback fight against The Destroyer was unable to develop the toys out of the pram anger he is now reknowned for and painfully succumbed to the form man, Scared, who rattled up a 4-0 victory which sent out a stark message to the top two that he was homing in on the League title. Next up was Lethal against the Spears. Lethal, coming back from life saving surgery should have been cannon fodder for Spears who had been finding it difficult to recapture the form which saw him top o the tree in the early stages of the season, however, clever delaying tactics by Lethal with his slow play utilising his exaggerated limp seemed to unnerve the pride of Tudor Road. Despite a 90+ finish and a 13 dart leg The Spears was humbled by the old grinder 4-2. This particular game was marred though by Blade 4 bounce outs (which surely warrant an enquiry) and a sulking dog that didnt know whether it was coming or going. The Destroyer was up against he of the diamond encrusted darts the Brickie whos mixture of performances this season has left us all wondering what this guy is really capable of. The Destroyers performances of late have not been anywhere near his capabilities yet amazingly he was still in there with a shot at the title, but yet again he was to leave head shaking because of missed opportunities and in the end had to settle for a 3-3 draw, The Brickie not phased by anyone yet again showed his potential and next season is surely the man to watch. The way was paved for the Hammer to take complete control of the league and cement top spot, his observation of Rock n Rolls earlier poor form was justified the only problem being that his own form was not up to his usual standard and yet again the crowd had to endure a dismal bore draw leaving the Hammers nerves to jangle for at least one more week. Shmo-key cheekily rounded the night off complaining about having to wait so long for his game when in previous weeks he has moaned about having to play too early, his opponent however had already played a game that evening which should have surely given him the advantage but as has happened so often this season Shmo-key battled his way to a deserved draw. The season is not quite over but if the Hammer can hold his nerve and stave off the onslaught of Scared a You's excellent form we could have a repeat winner of the TNPLD League.

There is a footnote and a lesson to be learned from this weeks report and that is if you complain about not getting enough coverage in match reports you wont get any coverage at all.........will let you all work that one out for yourselves.

York Thursday Night Premier League Darts-Hammer Releases Final Warning To Fledging Stars

It was a night to forget for the top 5 as the hammer reasserted himself favourite for the TNPDL championship. Only Rock n roll and the hammer took maximum points in the top 5 players, With Lethal Weapon at home licking his wounds literally it was a chance for most the players to catch up their games in hand leaving Jon sat at home worried with fret about how the season was gonna unfold. But the night ended up giving the hammer a 3 point advantage over the rest of the struggling pack with teddy closing in on the top 4 to give this years competition a nail biting finish.
First up was Double top against the struggling spears. Dan who now had his sights firmly set on 6th place and automatic qualification to the championship finals now had a bigger goal, to beat his brother in the league standings! Brett must of took note from last week, the shed was cleared, the atmosphere was set and the lad who just cant seem to get a break at the moment looked up for this one. The once feared throwing machine was finding it hard to scrape any kind of results from the past few games and now seemed to be content with a qualificaton knockout place. The game started at a ferocious pace with dan hitting out the game of his life. Brett seemed powerless as dan swept brett aside to take the win and also cement a 6th place league standing with only a handful of games left.

Next up The destroyer vs Rock n' Roll. Belly now starting to feel the pressure of the chasing pack could not afford to let this one slip. With mart and jase having games in hand belly had to take maximum points and try to leave the gap at the top sustainable. With half cooked performances the previous weeks bellys been finding it hard to show the form that made him season favourite but has still been picking up the points with 7 out of a possible 8. Lee on the other hand had been enjoying his darts, undefeated in 3 games, he saw this as the ideal opportunity to close up on the leading 4 and put pressure on the guys near the top. A win here would propel him upto 16 pts, 1 point behind Lethal with a game in hand and would also reduce the gap between him and belly to 4pts with a game in hand. Well I got there half way through the game to find lee winning 2-1. Bellys new darts still were'nt doing the business and after what seemed an eternity for belly, lee ran out a 4-1 winner leaving belly top but with jase and mart still to play for how long? Lee now distancing himself from 6th place will now fancy an outside chance of getting his hands on this years championship.

Shmo-key vs Scared a you next. This was seen as a formality, a guaranteed win, a walk in the park for mart (69). Undefeated in 11 games, banging in a 48 ave last week, the crowd anticipated this as a decapitation of shmo-key, the final nail in richs coffin. Mart desperately needed these points, especially with belly losing, this game would see him go top with a game in hand for the first time this season. Rich was still looking for his first win. He had taken large scalps before, drawing against belly, but no-one could see him taking any kind of result from mart. Still hogging bottom place in the league rich must have seen this as damage limitation. Well we couldn't of been more wrong. Mart crumbling and shaking bowed down to shmokey for rich to record another draw against a big gun. Rich ecstatic at the result but not as much as jase who saw this as a massive boost to his championship challenge. Mart on the other hand was left licking his wounds and pondering if that was the chance he needed to help claim the league.

The hammer vs the brickie was next on the agenda. Jase seeing his league chances given an almighty boost saw this as the ideal opportunity to take back top spot and with a game up next as well, bolster his credentials and league challenge. Mickey was coming into this game with some form himself. Undefeated in 3 games, mick saw this as a game to close up on 6th place. The 50 quiders had started doing the business, but could they take a big scalp? No unfortunately micks finishing let him down as he fell to a 4-0 loss but with no game under 23 darts saw this as a missed opportunity where as jase was just pleased for the win and top spot in the league again.

Last game saw the bachelor vs the hammer. Pablo with 2 wins out of 3 games could close the gap on the brickie and get himself out of the bottom 3 for the first time this season. With only a few games left, time is not on his hands as pablo was still looking at 6th place and needed this win to put pressure on the boys above. Well it didnt materialize with jase winning 4-0, cementing top spot and now surely has his eyes set on winning the league by winning 2 of his remaining 3 fixtures.

York Thursday Night Premier League Darts-Belly Button The New Star Of F1 And Mart Looking Good For First League Title

York's one and only dart league did not deliver any suprises on Thursday night as all the top players rolled through with wins but in midtable things are starting to hot up.

First up saw The bachelor against The brickie. Pablo who is gradually crawling up the league to join the midtable battle was again without his trusty sidekick, but with 2 games in a night never had chance to stop and think about his pooch sat at home all alone licking his balls. Mickey on the other hand had another worry, could his £50 darts do the business?. After a champagne ceromony of unveiling the darts from their case which actually looked more like a hitmans gun case it was time to proceed. Mickey obviously bearing the weight of his wifes words that she "wants tropheys" struck first but only after some quite wild throwing. Pablo then proceeded to make mickey suffer taking a 3-2 lead. Could the 50 quiders secure their first point, was the money worth it. NO! Pablo running out a 4-2 winner and securely placing himself in the midtable wranglings.

Next up Scared a you vs The spears. This years man in form was surely.confident about this one. With back to back wins Mart (66) was looking like a champion elect. The cider swilling connaseur firmly looks like he could take the coveted title, especially with games in hand over the leaders. With him hammering the treble 20's like barca hammered man u, the man known as the c#@t was going to take some beating. Brett on the other hand was going through a torrid time, back to back losses saw the early season runner struggle to take any points of late. With his shed ransacked full of crap, he hasn't had a chance to get in some much needed practice on his home board. This looks to be having a detrimental effect on his game but hopefully with home advantage next week, Mart will get round and clear it out and give brett some time on the board. Well this game was one way traffic. Mart (66) took all four games to beat brett 4-0 and also took the best season ave. for a match of 42.49. Putting mart into a great position with only a matter of games left.

Next up Double top vs The hammer. Big game for double top, again another player battling it out mid table for the coveted 6th place. Dan having a crazy up and down first season must of felt like the gods were on his side after last weeks fantastic draw against the destroyer. A much needed win was on the agenda as with pablo winning and brett and mickey losing it was a chance for the van gogh of tatooing to do some damage. The hammer meanwhile was optimistic. Arriving at the event feeling quite content he also needed a win to keep the distance between him and Mart (67) as far wide as possible. Now not wearing the "compulsary" uniform,
worried he might get grebbed on by the kids who reside in that vicinity, Jase proceeded to the oche, but with Dan banging in nearest bull he got the honors to go first. Unfortunately for double top the hammer was on form hitting dan for 4 to give the second whitewash of the evening. With an ave. of 42.49, miraculously the same as Marts the previous game he was surely happy to prove a point to the grumbleweeds decendant.

Now this was the biggy of the night. Thursday night premier league darts upset of the year returning for a second match up. Shmo-key vs the destroyer. Might vs minion, david vs goliath, gut vs gut!. With Rich taking the last encounter to a 3-3 draw, could he this time go one better and defeat the shakey destroyer. Rich yet to find his first win was on home ground, unrattled and ready for battle. Belly looked nervous, especially after last weeks fasade of either scorer or player error. He couldn't afford to let this slip, now that mart (68) and jase had previously won both their games and with mart due to throw again next game. But the game couldn't of started worse, rich taking a 1-0 lead and belly using the f1 key (0 pts shortcut on the scorer) no less than 6 times. Next leg got no better with the f1 key getting more hammer than imogen, belly was now been resembled to f1 star jenson "f1" button. He took that leg... Just. Third leg looked like the old destroyer, hammering in a sub twenty darter to make it 2-1. But then the f1 curse hit back and again producing another 40+ darter and using the f1 key no less than 7 times neal was been dubbed "belly button" due to his love of the "f1". It didnt get any better all to say that button ran out a not so deserved 4-1 winner and rich now having to etch f1 on his keyboard due to the overuse of that certain key.

Last game was 2 already warmed up players. Bachelor vs Scared a you. Pablo on a decent run and mart also on a decent run left the crowds anticipating a good game. Not to be. Mart running out a 4-0 winner but with an ave of 48.summat he made everyone else in that garage look like retarded dwarfs with what can only be described as mouth watering darts. Sorry but cant be bothered writing anymore, im weeny tired and need a right bab so until next week folks. STAY LUCKY!

York Thursday Night Premier Darts-No Change At The Top As Top Five Draw.

Thursday night saw nobody take advantage of the league as the top 5 players in the league drew leaving no change in the rankings.

First up was rock n roll against lethal. Jon 2 games in front of the rest of the league needed a much needed win after succumbing to the brickie last week. His clasp on the title would be ever slipping if he lost and the top 3 won. Surely with only a handful of games left the old timer and self confessed semi footballer could be hanging his boots up and calling it a day. Rookie on the other hand needed to win to try and catch upto the top four and stake his claim on the league title after dramatically winning the fa cup of darts the previous week. Lee now dubbed "the lad who's had it bad" after a series of misfortunate events was seeing his title chances boost with a series of decent results against the top runners. Well unfortunately for both players neither could else advantage as the game ended 3-3 leaving both players pondering what could of been.

Second game saw the destroyer vs double top. Belly with a tight grip on first place in the league was looking to extend that lead in the league and pull away from the ever chasing pack. The suprise looooooser from the fa cup of darts needed to make a menze and saw double top as the ideal opponent. The minion surley was going to be overpowered by the destroyer but like double top has proved so many times this season he's no push over. Dan fighting his own mid table battle was after blood after missing last weeks tournament and not been able to express himself in the ranking tournament. With the midtable getting ever more tight dan needed points to separate himself from the rest of the minions and secure the vital 6th place in the league which is so vital in the run up to the league championships. Well belly could of walked away with this one if not have been for a very dubious decision on double 4 that would of given belly the road to a win, but it wasn't the case, a miscalculation gave dan the opportunity to inflict some damage and he did in style. Clawing back a 3-1 deficit and banging belly in the bollocks to record a well deserved draw, both player looking absolutely exhausted after a mammoth of a game.

Third game scared of you vs the hammer. Mart(65) had games in hand and with that a chance to go top IF he won all his outstanding games. With only one loss this season to the hammer mart looks a likely contender to hold aloft the league trophy that had eluded him for the past 3 seasons. If this old piss can can keep his nerve for the rest of the season they will be no reason why he can't take home the title and put the trophy on top of his telly in front of the wifes growing collection. The hammer beaten in 2 finals last week wasn't looking forward to this fixture. A tricky opponent with a fine throwing pedigree was in the hammers way to reclaim top spot with a game in hand. The hammer dispondent from last weeks double final loss wasn't up for this, with him wanting to take a point without throwing a dart. He would of took that point especially with mart taking the first leg, but then the game was turned upside down with jase taking an undeserved 3-2 lead, and it was undeserved as mart was banging em in the 20's all night long. Mart took the last game with both players looking pleased with the point and making no advancement on the league rankings.

Fourth game saw the brickie against smokey. Mickey who was still waiting for his early birthday present of a blade 4 to arrive was also in the midst of a midtable battle. With a great win last time out he looked confident, well with his chinky eyes you couldn't really tell but with a positive aura surrounding him he was determined to make it his night. With the blade 4 looming this may of been the last night anyone played and unpracticed brickie. Rich on the other hand was too busy rolling a fag to be overwhelmed by mickeys aura. The star player of last weeks championship (by reaching the semi's, and I bet he had a semi by getting to the semi's) took his usual I can't be arsed to get worked up attitude and addressed the oche with a fresh bhuna in his gob. With rich propping up the bottom of the table he raced into a 1-0 less after a tiresome load of darts. The brickie brought it back and after another poo load of darts it ended up 3-2 to the brickie. The last went to a 60 dart shoot out....... Rich first scored forty summat and was on track for a point. Mickey with his first 2 hit a crap score and needed a decent last dart to seal the win, and just like the ending in teen wolf, you know that bit when the team need one point and he throws the basketball and it goes round the hoop for ages and ages and drops in to give the team a win, well you guessed it mick dropped the last one in treble 20 to secure 2 points help his cause to rid the world of famine and disease.

Last game saw the ever more impressive bachelor against the spears. Pablo (bob carolgies) never had his trusty sidekick and crime busting partner "spit" but was surely feeling confident after not losing in the league for a while. With bob now asserting himself between the midtable minions could he carry on his good fortunes and keep climbing the rankings?. The spears on the other hand was on a bit of a lull. With his brave antics last week seeing him into the quarter finals wasn't seeing much progress in the league from the past few weeks. The usually quiet lad this week seemed to have a look of a man on a mission knowing that this was a four pointer, desperately wanting to get his campaign back on track and keeping his higher midtable asperations alive. The man who took the first part of the season by storm would be counting on the form we all know he has to start reclaiming his midtable stance and start asserting himself as a force to be reckoned with. Unfortunately it wasn't going to be this night, miserably falling to the bachelor 4-1 and thus losing points to the lower down ranked players whilst bob was now climbing the ranks and putting preesure on the boys above.

York Thursday Night Premier League Darts- The Pat Reeve Memorial - FA Cup of Darts

Words cant describe it .... emotions cannot get more frayed .... tension cant be measured and thrills spills shocks and upsets cant be believed..... but here goes ...... The FA Cup of Darts sponsored by The Brickie and the TNPLD combined provided one hell of a night that will surely never be repeated. No individual match reports are needed as the highlights could surmount the hottest of news, roll over Ryan Giggs, who cares about Bin Laden and Barack Obama while your in England take a trip to Shm-okeys on Thursday night for some real cultural entertainment. The evening was started with a series of group games with a view towards whittling out 8 quarter finalists, this was expected to be a walk in the park for some and a struggle for others but the surprises started early with The Destroyer entering the elimination phase on the back of defeats to Scared and Lethal, Shmo-key on the other hand was true to form with his mind on planet Zorg and worrying about his next toke on a rolie he lost the group games and seemed down and definitely out, all other group games were nip and tuck with Big Lee even showing nerves despite his obvious class and being pre-tournament favourite. Bill came to the fore with consistent darts and a few thought of him as perhaps a dark threat. The Hammer swept through the group stage pumping the air with every throw even terty trees, this man was up for it. Lethal plodded Scared (64) rolled dodgy fags Spears was workmanlike Batchelor got drunk and Mossy showed deep concern for the protection of the Blade 3 dartboard by throwing as many darts as he could into the spongy surround rather than hitting the board itself (bless). The evening reached fever pitch in the elimination round with Shm-okey demoralising deflating and humilliating The Destroyer and along with Big Lee, Spears, Hammer, Rock n Roll, Lethal, Scared and The Brickie he went on to the quarter final to face Lethal who at this point was ringing the Mrs to tell her he had a virtual bye to the semis ...what a knob head ........his smugness was washed away as Shm-okey found another turn of foot and swept past the hapless Lethal into a semi-final showdown with the Hammer who was down to his gums he was gritting his teeth that much. Form was retained as the two favourites progressed to the final with Big Lee showing his class winning the "minor" trophy which according to the rules meant that the Hammer had to contest another final against Rock n Roll who edged out Shm-okey in a play off. This final however did not go according to the form book and Rock n Roll ran out the winner and Pat Reeve Champion in its inaugural event. A great night which ran smoothly and I am sure everyone agreed it was the best TNPLD night so far. Roll on the next one. Shmo-key was the star Hammer went home potless the Destroyer went home sulking Lethal went home to eat humble pie and Mickey went home safe in the knowledge he had done his mum proud and cuddling a few quid for his charity at the same time. Big Lee, we hope has gone home to pluck up the courage to ditch his Mickey Mouse darts nights and join the enigma that is .....The TNPLD

York Thursday Night Premier League Darts Competition

The TNPLD FA Cup of Darts
The “Pat Reeve” Memorial Trophy
Friday 20 May 2011
Holgate WMC

This competition provides a different challenge to the normal league format, no seedings no favourites and a complete lottery (hopefully).

Preliminary Round – The current top 4 in The TNPLD will be drawn in the Preliminary Round which will be 1 leg of 1001 down. This will promote two players to the first round proper, however, and heres the twist, those two players will compete against each other for a place in the semi-final.

Round 1 – The bottom six players in TNPLD will contest round 1 with the top four having their own battle for a solitary semi-final spot. First round matches in this part of the draw will be a single leg of 701 down.

Semi-Final – All remaining players will be drawn at random and each semi-final will be a single leg of 1001 down.

Final – The Final will again be a single leg of 1001 down with the winner taking the Pat Reeve Trophy and the accolade of being the inaugural winner of The TNPLD FA Cup of Darts.

York Thursday Night Premier League Darts - Destroyer and Hammer assert in potential slip up week.

This weeks fixtures offered those in the nether regions of the league a chance to cause upsets with the top 4 drawn against, those on form, they would expect to dominate but as ever the TNPLD showed yet again that no game is easy and surprises are the norm. Firstly though the evening was marred by the absence of Scared a You who had overdosed on the hops and collapsed to his bed unable to compete. This however was not the poorest excuse as Double Top was remaining sober for the entire evening due to so called work commitments claiming Friday 13th was his busiest day and he needed a clear head. This raised calls for the introduction of drugs/alcohol testing whereby no player should be allowed to compete unless they are under the influence of beer or wacky baccy. The committee will convene to discuss this outrage at a later date. First up Rock n Roll v Bachelor, a tense opener with great courage shown by the curly one by playing despite his traumatic week and he was applauded by one and all for his dedication to the TNPLD. Pablo took advantage in the early exchange of Lee's obvious lack of concentration and grabbed the opening leg only for Rock n Roll to recapture his form and take the 2nd, but not to be denied Bachelor seized the 3rd comforted in the thought that his pet little black ball of fluff was dozing behind him (what is that all about, I am bring Freddie our hamster to the next match) Lee then asserted finding his form and a brilliant 87 checkout for an 18 darter in the 5th leg helped seal what was in the end a comfortable victory 4-2. Next up Lethal v The Brickie, after a 4-0 drubbing in their first encounter this should have been a formality for Lethal, but yet again erratic flinging caused the form book to be thrown in the bin. After beating Lethal in the final of China Open at the ALly Pally the previous weekend The Brickie was full of confidence and swept into a 2-0 lead. Lethal recovered some dignity with a 17 dart 3rd but the Brickie was not letting this one slip and carved out a deserved 4-2 win which basically reminded Lethal that he really isnt as good as he thinks he is. The Destroyer v The Spears were next up with Brett returning from a break in the sun Neal must have thought this would be plain sailing, but The Spears hit the ground running and was throwing for doubles when The Destroyer was on 200+ in the 1st leg, but the Spears fell apart and couldnt follow up his brilliant start with a finish and The Destroyer capitalised on his frailty and also took the 2nd leg while The Spears pondered the 1st. A nip and tuck game followed with the somewhat unconvincing Destroyer stretching out to a 4-2 victory. Shm-okey after a trip the the toilet the very moment he was called to the oche then a fag then a chat graciously greed to fulfil his fixture with the coiled spring known as The Hammer, form wise this was a no-brainer with The Hammer 1/ 100000000 with Ladbrokes to win, but could Shm-okeys reknowned delaying tactics raise the heat and set The Hammers nerves a jangling. No,basically, this was a walk in the park and The Hammer ran out an easy 4-0 winner with a 16 darter thrown in for good measure. The Hammer has now reaffirmed his position as TNPLD favourite with a confident performance. Shm-okey on the other hand is to be fitted with a straight jacket on arrival at future venues and only released to play his game ,so nullifying his yawning delaying tactics. Last game of the night was the disgracefully SOBER Double Top v the very weary and tired pensioner Lethal, amazingly though after a couple of tinnies (Jase used his big fat aris to knock my beer off the pool table limiting my intake ) also being up way past his bedtime Lethal produced the type of arrers he has threatened all season running out a 4-1 winner but one particular leg stood out as Lethal opened with a ton followed by a 125 leaving a possible 8-darter The Hammer drew everyones attention to the possible 8-darter then hang on he is still on a 10 darter, no hang on maybe a 12 darter, oh unlucky maybe a 13 darter .........30 odd darts later no-one cared who won the leg. This season is really more open than Madonnas legs and is bound to see more ups and downs than Jordans knickers, so keep blogging and .......Good arrers!

York Thursday Night Premier League Darts - Belly Does Double, Mickey In Trouble

T.N.P.D.L. Saw a welcome return to double tops den on thursday night with one of the biggest line ups in history. With the league changing leaders more than a woman changes her mind it was going to be a night of aprehensible darts.

Game one - double top vs the bachelor.
Pablo back from his native potato land was going to need a point at least to start making a move up in the rankings. Dan who had struggled the last few weeks had home advantage and was going to try and use that to his advantage. Dan took the first game to go one up on the little irish man, but in true irish fashion the wee man clawed one back to make it 1-1. It wasn't going to be a classic this match but it did entertain. With pablo taking the second leg dan came back with another two to make it 3-2 with a fantastic 17 darter. Could pablo take a much needed point in the last? Ohh yes, crushing dans confidence to leave pablo happy with the point and dan kicking himself as he slowly slips away from the leaders.

Game two - the bickie vs rock n roll
Bitterness carried into this game from an earlier incident at work that very day. With lee stopping at nothing to win the league title, he "accidently" burnt mickeys hand hoping that the struggling south paw would not be able to throw his darts. Well he shouldn't have worried, mickey the seasons dark horse, again having a lacklustre display with lee winning with a 4-0 win with a quality 20 darter thrown in, but this again wasnt a great display from two players who we all know can play better darts. Rookie now climbing the ranks whilst mick remains on the slippery slope of no return.

Game Three - Scared a you vs lethal weapon
Two guys trying to take to spot were certainly up for this one, and it started in unbelievable fashion. Mart smashing two 85's in the first leg thought he must of won it, only to lose it by not been able to hit the double with no fewer than 12 darts giving jon a gift and the first leg. That was the story for the next two legs with jon taking a 3-0 lead. Mart then collected himself together and, in what had to be one of the greatest comebacks in TNPLD's history turned the game on its head. With the chance of an eight darter, he took the next leg, although it took him 25 darts. With jon delaying the game for some unknown reason, martin carried on his barrage of pressure taking the next leg and a point in his sights. Jon then threw two points away by handing mart the last leg making the game 3-3 and leaving jon bewildered with the point. Just after jon went home blebbing!

Game four the hammer vs the destroyer
One word can describe this game..."weird". It started ok for the hammer, throwing a couple of treble twentys in consecutive goes seemed to take an early lead but couldn't finish for toffee. This had seemed to be the case all night, plenty of chances lost to the double curse. Well belly took the first and second, leaving the hammer for dead. Jase had to turn this around and stop the rot of losing to belly for the past three meetings. And he did, taking the next two he started edging at the destroyers confidence, or so he thought with the destroyer taking the next two games to make it 4-2 and take him back into top spot, a deserved top spot as well. As for the hammer he'll be hoping history repeats itself by not losing again like the first half of the season after succumbing to the destroyers powers in the first game.

Game five bachelor vs shmo-key
Battle of the bottom. Pablo buzzing from the point off the host earlier in the night had another point in his sights. Well in good old shmo-key fashion rich took the first. Pablo who hadn't seen rich's rise to fame over the last few weeks didn't let that get the better of him. He took the second to make it 1-1. It seemed like this was going to be the order of the night, but with pablo taking a 3 week absense from the league took the next 3 legs, 2 points and propelling him into 9th in the league and surely now has his sights set on catching the brickie in 8th with his 2 games in hand.

York Thursday Night Premier League Darts - Hammer Hits Top, Belly Buckles Under Pressure And Lethal Lathergic Again

York's premier Thursday night darts league didn't disappoint again as the league found itself a new leader. A night of plenty of action at the newly refurbished Wrecking Room.

First up a biggy, Rock n Roll vs Scared o' You. With both players only losing one match up to now in this years league both players were desperate to grab 2 points and climb the league. Starting off with closest bull, both players miraculously hitting 25 twice and after the 5th arrow been thrown went to Mart,63, who went on to win the first leg only because Lee hit  his double to see it bounce out of the new blade 4, (with 50% less wire) was very unlucky to be picking his dart off the floor. Lee struck back straight away to take the second leg. With both players feeling the heat none really got going, with Lee taking the 3rd game to make it 2-1. Scared o' You,64, now had his work cut out, but didn't show any nerves after downing a bottle of Sainsbury's finest cider, his words, not the pikey's on the park bench who also shares his taste in wank alcohol took the second game. Draw master Lee must of though it would be history repeating itself with a sixth draw at least in the bag, but it wasn't to be, Mart taking the next 2 games to beat Lee 4-2 and take Hill,65, only 1 point off top spot with a game in hand and leaving Lee 4 points off top spot.

Next up Dan"Late Again"Rooke vs The Brickie. Mickey with only 1 win all season had told himself that this had to be the turn around game in his season, but could Dan pile on the pain and misery for the gigglebiz fan. The game started off fantastic with Dan on for a 12 darter, but strangely ended up been a 55 darter. Was this going to be the way the match went, well if we mean Dan winning then yes, the first whitewash of the night presumed with a 4-0 thumping of the Brickie, but with no practice board at home could only blame himself for been left handed and too tight to actually buy a board, especially when Rich has 2 in his garage. Dan was now pumped up and must of surely fancied himself for his match up with the hammer later on.

Battle of the top, the one called Lethal who surprisingly enough was still at the venue at 9pm to play his game. Bank holiday Friday looming obviously meant Jon was allowed out a bit longer before Steph called him home for bath night, or so we thought! The Destroyer been rocked from last weeks defeat to Rock n Roll was on a mission, the distant look and stern face showed that this man only had one thing in mind, a win. It started like a classic, Jon blasting into a 1-0 lead with a sublime 14 darter certainly gave The destroyer something to think about. Belly answered back like a chav to a copper, smashing Jon for 6 to take the second leg. With the game tied a 1-1 Belly couldn't of looked any more serious, this game was a must, his heart beating, his brain in overtime and his throwing hand shaking like a $hiting dog he had to take this next leg, but he didn't, Jon going 2-1 up to the delight of one individual who shall remain nameless. With Belly rocked and Jon pumped up like a dwarf on steroids he saw his opportunity to take this game and leave Belly pondering his championship credentials, and the old timer who was by now weeny tired as it had gone 9.10pm took that opportunity and took the next two games. The crowd dismayed by Bellys form looked at Jon to congratulate him in his second spot in the league only to find the smell of burning rubber off his back wheel as he rode of into the sunset for his bedbath.

The Spears vs Shmo-key next. Last years bottom 2, but now this years MILF contenders both had nothing to prove. These two banditos of the arrers had enjoyed a great first half to the season with both players racking up more points than the previous two seasons put together. With Brett starting to slide down the league from a couple of hard matches and Rich finding some form it was going to be a classic game with no apprehension. Brett took the first taking Rich down was some fine throwing, but then in good old Shmo-key style rich took the next two to go 2-1 up. Brett who has tasted glory a few times already this season hit back with the next to take the game to a tense 2-2. Rich who hadn't tasted victory before was licking his lips with the thought of a 2 pointer and a chance to leap frogg the Brickie in the league. Rich did lick his lips after taking the 5th leg on exactly 60 darts, the last dart of the leg before it would of gone into a high score decider, and sending the crowd into a frenzy must of thought it was going to be his night, but The Spears wasn't going to lie down easily, taking the leg and stopping the rotten vein of form from the past few weeks. Both players happy with the point and deservedly so.

New hate figure The hammer was next up against Double Top who had previously whitewashed Mickey earlier on in the night. Jase with 2 games in hand could go top with a game in hand but was certainly not relishing the thought of playing Dan. The game started fast with Dan having a chance of taking the first leg albeit the dreaded doubles curse that so many players have fallen to all season struck the young heart throb and star tattooist "AS SEEN TV", giving Jase a chance which he converted. The next games all went slow, with both players banging in a couple of tons there was never a game under 23 darts, poor darts really from two players who have both seen sub 14 darters legs this season. Jase took the next to make it 2-0 but Dan should of took the third but with the double not flowing again let Jase in to keep his composure and finish to make it 3-0. The last leg was quite subdued, Dan shaking his head  and Jase not taking pleasure in beating anyone who was having "one of them nights" took the leg to make it 4-0 and retain his spot on top of the league.

YORK THURSDAY NOW MONDAY FOR ONE NIGHT ONLY PREMIER LEAGUE DARTS: DESTROYER ASSERTS ..HAMMER ISSUES REMINDER

History was made today when the TNPLD ignored its protocol and ventured into the unknown territory of Banky Monday darts. In an attempt to consolidate backdated fixtures the gauntlet was thrown down at the Fakeside and the call was answered by The Brickie, Shm-okey, The Hammer, The Destroyer and Lethal. Those who never dared to tread into this unknown should be aware that out of sync arrrers can have a dramatic affect. First up was The Brickie v Shm-okey a tense affair which was marred by Shm-okeys blatant underestimation of the importance of the TNPLD, weening his child whilst being engaged in a game which on reflection could have been his first 2 pointer of the season. The Brickie set off with a 16 darter and we all believed that the writing was on Jases wall (you know..the one that Mart usually pisses up) but the next leg gave everyone thoughts of Lethal (a 60 darter) nuff said 1-1. With the scores tied The Brickie showed his nerves in the next leg with a total accumulation of 5 in the first 6 darts but he overturned his poor start to finish in 25. The Brickie then went 3-1 up and again we all thought game over but Shm-okey comforted in the thought that his sons nappy had been changed swept into a 20 and 28 dart closure which secured a well deserved point. Next up a game which darts fans the world over had been waiting for ...... Hammer v Lethal ... After avoiding the initial battle housing himself away for the weekend in a caravan with 14 practice boards and Phil the Power Taylor coaching while his wife and kids slept in a 2 man tent eating cold beans and porridge without milk The Hammer with his apologetic face said to Lethal shall we play.... Lethal was cannon fodder as The Hammer blew him away 4-1 including a 14 and 17 darter that even his mentor The Power would have struggled against. That meant yet again The Hammer resumed top spot..........but for how long. The Destroyer, fresh and determined from regaining top spot last week confidently strode up to the oche thinking a return to top spot, after briefly losing the pinnacle position to The Hammer, was a formality against the unpredictable Brickie. How wrong he was after The Brickie put up a sterling effort with a bunch of games that never exceeded 30 darts that quite literally could have gone either way, however, The Destroyers experience and confidence told as he ran out a 4-2 winner. All in all a cracking afternoon which yet again throws the TNPLD into No Mans Land with no-one able to predict the overall champion.
Good arrers!

YORK THURSDAY NIGHT PREMIER LEAGUE DARTS : HAMMER IN COASTAL HIDEAWAY MISSES OUT ON TOP SPOT

Star of Thursday Night Premier League Darts Jase "The Hammer" Holtby mysteriously disappeared to a coastal safehouse amid speculation that he was "losing his bottle" mumbles and murmurings dominated the early conversation this week as the "Hammers" disappearance seemed like it was about to overshadow the first meeting of the season at The Gilchrist Arena. However, as it should be the arrers did the talking as the electric atmosphere soon reached fever pitch. First up Martin "Scared o You" Hill,54, versus one of the new boys Mick "The Brickie" Reeves, despite having drunk his own weight in cider and falling over the oche a few times "Scared o You" managed to hold his own throughout the match when others in a similar state would have struggled to hit the board. This was a ding dong affair tooing and froing with both arrer technicians giving it their all. Evenly matched throughout, the game ended in an honourable draw 3-3( Can you tell yet from the sparse detail that I never actually watched this one). This result putting a temporary halt on Scared's charge for top spot. With the Gilchrist Arena packed to the rafters and shaking at its foundations,( please note that the Gilchrist Arena is a garden shed and with the 2 players and a scorer it was full) what came next was exactly what the TNPLD deserves,a match of incredible scoring and superb drama. The Destroyer fresh from regaining top spot and seemingly redeveloping the aura befitting the reigning champion could not have predicted the next twenty minutes of blistering action from none other than King Curly himself Mr Rock n Roll, legs 1 and 2 went to Rock n Roll then the destroyer grabbed one back only for the curly one to go immediately 3-1 up, these first four legs were completed in an average of 16 darts top drawer stuff, the tension then hit both players as Rock n Roll proceeded to oust the Destroyer who briefly fought back to 3 -2. Final result Rock n Roll 4 Destroyer 2. Both players giving an exhibition of darts that probably deserved a draw. On came The Spears up against the tat machine Double Top both players seemed a little edgy trying to gain the upper hand and in a game so tight and difficult to call neither could relax a muscle. After quite a while (and thats being polite) and using up two scorers (Mickie who was nodding off had to be replaced by Jon) the game ended in a 3-3 draw which was a fair reflection. Next up old Lethal v The Brickie, given Lethals previous starts everyone settled down for a long opening leg and they were not disappointed, another 60 dart tie break resulted in The Brickie taking a 1-0 lead. The onlooking members of the TNPLD feared the worst but could not have predicted what would come next, after changing his bag, a result of too many lagers and realising he was way past his bedtime Lethal produced an amazing 4 leg burst including a 12 darter to take the spoils and shake the league right to its core. Yet again the TNPLD has thrown up its surprises and who can now predict the final outcome to this sensational season. Good arrers
