Neal "The Destroyer" Bell defied all his critics last night by winning the T.N.P.L.D's Championship at a crowded Holgate W.M.C., partly because there was a party next door. The destroyer beat reigning champion and league winner Jase "The Hammer" Holtby in a tense and thrilling climax to the final. The Destroyer won 3-2 in a best of 5 - 501 contest, late Friday Night. It was a night that could of been full of upsets, but it wasn't. First on the oche was Martin "The Cunt" Hill who had just previously won the handicapped 701, with some fine arrows. He was up against Rich "The Flight Wrecker" Goldsmith. Unfortunately Rich wasn't on par and succumbed to a 3-0 loss to The Cunt. Next up was Mel Gibson wannabe Jon "Lethal Weapon" Woodall against Brettney "The Spears". What a game this was going to turn out to be. Brettney going 1-0 up with some lethal finishing and with the blink of an eye was 2-0 up. Was this going to be the upset of the night?...No unfortunately, Brett had chance to kill the game but was it not for double 6. For 2 games he required it, and could he get it, could he bollocks, which left Mel able to claw 2 legs back to even things up. As for the third leg....? I went to the bog for a slash but by all accounts that was close as well, with Jon Finally putting The Spears to bed 3-2. Next up Lee "Rock N Roll" Rooke vs The Destoyer. A close game by all accounts, sorry guys but didn't actually see the game, was busy have a fag outside and let Big Lee and Mossy score it. Anyway Rookie lost to the The Destroyer who progressed to the semi's.So for the semi's, a lot was riding on this, the PDC had come down to watch, potential new players were in attendance and not forgetting the WAG's who of course made there presence known! The names were drawn by an independent adjudicator (our lass), with The Destroyer been drawn against The cunt and The Hammer Been drawn against Lethal Weapon. Up First Reigning champion The Hammer and Lethal Weapon. The Hammer took a 2-0 lead with both player playing some rather average darts, only difference The Hammer was able to hit his doubles. Then Jon Slammed The Hammer into the ground with a fantstic leg to make it 2-1. It was squeaky bum time for The Hammer who by this time was propper babbing himself. Luckily enough for the Hammer, Jon was not on form and gave a lackluster display in the fourth leg to let The Hammer through to his second consecutive final. Next up The Cunt vs The Destroyer. This was a game that had to live up to its expectations and it did, well so i'm led to believe, by this time i was pissed so cant really give you a detailed account of this game but what i do know was that there was a lot of shouting and cheering and drinking and betting (from the asian betting consortium)with The Destroyer destroying The Cunt. So for the grand final. Belly was already Christmas champion and was looking to carry on that form with a win here. And he did, Belly who had been on form all night hammered The Hammer 3-2. With it going to a deciding leg, Belly was the one who kept his cool, held his nerves and finished off emphatically on double 8 to take his first TNPLD's championship, a deserved winner i'm sure we'll all agree. Cracking night lads a big thanks to everyone involved as well as Jon for organising, Pablo for the trophies, the wags for their support and Big Lee and Mossy for the scoring and comparing of the matches.Good luck all in 2011.
